Stephane is a Merchant Support Agent here at Zapiet. Stephane works hard to make sure our merchants are set up for success. We chatted with Stephane to learn more about how and why he joined Zapiet and how he ended up in Ecuador.
I am a member of our awesome Merchant Support team and have been for approximately a year and half now!
I’m not going to lie, any review that has the name “Stephanie” always puts a cheeky smile on my face lol. As far as memorable stories go, I can’t say that I have any specific memory that stood out more than others. But I will say that out of the few that do come to mind, they're all merchants that I spoke to on the phone, where we got to talk to each other and tell a little of our life stories and just get to know each other a bit better. I find it really interesting to hear about other people’s journeys in life :)
First thing on the list when waking up is taking the dog out. Then it’s definitely coffee time where I take it outside sit on our balcony and enjoy the beautiful weather and scenery. A bit of breakfast and then it’s go time! After work, usually we go for a nice long walk on the side of the beach with our dog, and enjoy watching the most amazing sunsets every day. After that well, who knows ;)
Same morning routine, just extended! Saturdays is usually badminton for a few hours, often followed by an afternoon on the beach. Then in the evening / night is where I meet up with friends in the town’s center for food, drinks, and sometimes dancing! And for Sundays, pool days are typically on the menu.
This is quite a long and complicated story, but in short, I’ve been coming to Ecuador to visit my best friend Jessica and her family for close to 7 years now. I fell in love with this particular town from the first trip. I made friends and kept making more and more as my visits became more frequent. Even back then, it was already starting to feel like home.
Then one day, it just clicked and I decided to take a chance and leave my job at the time (which was very hard because I had been there 12 years and had many good friends and memories), sell everything and start a new life in Ecuador with nothing more than 2 suitcases! Looking back, that was the best decision of my life.
Other than my first trip to Ecuador, there was also Jamaica that was special to me. My other best friend Brandon got married there and I had the honor of being his best man. I had never visited Jamaica or travelled much for that matter and I had never been a best man at a wedding so it was definitely an honor and a memory I will never forget! It was during this trip that discovered how much I enjoyed traveling.
That would be last summer, the day I received my first motorcycle. It had been a dream of mine for a long time, but living in Canada made it slightly less accessible. Between the weather and costs of owning multiple vehicles. I never really considered owning one until I moved here. Now my dream came true and I’m now riding like I always wanted to!
Listen & learn. I was of course very young when my father gave me that advice but it stuck with me. I used this advice to learn as much as I could from others over the years. Now obviously one cannot take for granted everything we hear, but sometimes, there are life lessons being told that are worth taking as advice. It’s probably why these particular lyrics from Aerosmith always stuck with me “Live and learn from fools and from sages”.
We learned so much from our chat with Stephane. If you are interested in working with us at Zapiet, we’re always searching for amazing talent to join our team. Feel free to contact us at [email protected] with your CV and a few sentences about why you think you would be a good fit for Zapiet.
